It feels like we’ve been planning this for ages, and now it’s finally here!
I’m so utterly delighted and proud to bring you.... Katie’s Kollection!
Katie has been an absolute star since she started with us last year. Fresh from Uni, she joined the team and instantly became my absolute rock – laughing and crying with me as we continue to slog away building this amazing company. I’m so proud of her resilience, drive and passion for what we do.
We started talking about Katie’s Kollection a while back – I’m really lucky we have similar tastes when it comes to what we select. But we also come at things from different perspectives creatively (as well as different experiences!). This is one of the things I love most about working with Katie and I had wanted her to have free reign to bring her personal style to Collecting Seashells through her own collection. So, after lots of chatting, mood boards, discussion and researching...here it is!
I’m going to let Katie tell you about the collection herself – I hope you love it as much as I do!
Hi guys – Katie here! I’m super excited to share with you my first collection!
Like Tilly, I have a passion for home decor and whilst I was at Uni I struggled to really find unique, affordable pieces that helped me add that personal touch to my room. This is the inspiration for my collection - whether it's buying or renting a first home, or moving away to uni, there's something for anyone looking to decorate and add their own style to a blank room with minimal effort and cost.
This 'Kollection' is full of fun, stylish decorative bits which are practical and will add a sense of comfort to a home away from home. Inspired by the current trend for neutrals with a flash of fresh colour, creams, golds, and tinted glass are accompanied by striking zig zags, abstract faces, and pops of red, yellow, and green. I think neutrals can be just as striking in a room as bold colours, by selecting interesting shapes – ovals, hearts, bubbles - you’re creating interest without having to have every piece scream of colour. Then by adding in a standout feature piece, such as our angular wall-mounted jewellery stand with mirror, you’re really making an impact. And all for affordable prices. So, you can have a beautifully decorated room that’s unique and within budget.
I’m also lucky to be able to feature a great collaboration with one of my close friends and up-and-coming artist, Kyia. A talented artist, Kyia graduated in art at UCA Farnham. Her unique portraits are inspired by some of her favourite music artists including Peggy Gou, Jorja Smith and Tyler, The Creator. Using a technique called Pointillism (a very time-consuming technique), Kyia uses a ball point pen to create very detailed drawings formed from tiny distinct dots. I couldn’t have picked a better fit as she’s fits perfectly with my ethos of adding a splash of contemporary colour to lift any space.
Enjoy the collection!
